Well I’ve been thinking of putting a 2jzgte in my s13, and am not sure if The s13 with that engine is going to be balanced enough for drifting. I know people drift with rb 25-26 s and their all inline 6s but I’m not looking to make 1000hp, I just want a well rounded drift car and to know if its worth it and the money.

No.

I'll be nice. Stop thinking. Take your stock s13 to a drift event, and drift it. After a while you'll realize you don't need more power, not yet - and NEVER IN YOUR LIFE will you need 1000HP.

I'd like to know where you got the idea that you need 1KHP for drifting??

I would like to what made you think he said he needed 1000HP to drift. If you took a second to read what the OP put you wouldn't have missed this part

"I’m not looking to make 1000hp "

I guess everyone else will be nice and not mention your illiteracy. Before you you get all ego trip and say that you will be nice and tell people to stop thinking take a moment to see if you are going to look like tool at the end.

lol Simple mistake, sorry

Back to answering the OPs question again. Unless your KA is blown or you're drifing at a level that actually requires more power, then a swap isn't right for you.

KAT / SR20 are far more cost effective (and easier) than a 2j. BTW it has been done, there's at least 1 build thread in 240 gen

stick with what you got till it blows.. why throw out a good motor? I understand you may want a turbo or a higher hp motor in general in hopes of running better lines.. but learn on what you got.. beat the hell out of it and dont look back.. and when it goes move on up too a better motor.. which I would stay away from the 2jz.. for the money that you would drop for that swap your looking at a sr with some upgrades.. eh just my opinion

learn on your KA. till you need more power, you are only wasting money.

and a 2j is a ridiculous waste of money in a S chassis.

actually its emissions legal in most states and 450+hp + gobs of torque can be made on the stock twins... its not a bad swap imho but it does cost money... i'm thinking about doing it myself for the simple fact... its a lil cheaper than an rb26dett and i think i can have a low mileage s13 with 2jzgtte, 6 speed and a s15 nose and still end up cheaper than a turbo six speed supra.... and probably lighter too....

but the ka-t is easy too..

thats my other thought

p.s. i'm not doing either for drifting.........

no

If you want something that makes decent power go sr20 and if you want something that makes pretty good power do an LSx swap
