Finally made it to a dyno to see what kind of numbers the car is putting down. I'm using a JWT ecu with a z32 maf and 72 lb inectors. The engine is built with Arias 8.8:1 comp pistons, stock rods, and ARP hardware. I'm using a garrett TO4B with a .60 comp.

I was suprised to see how lean the engine is running. Everyone has always told me that the JWT will run super rich and have very conserative timing, not so in my case. I think that I'm borderline safe with the AFR's and the timing cannot be advanced anymore than the stock setting of 20*. We tried to advance the timing a little, but it would start to ping, same with an increase in boost. I'm leaving it at the 10 psi level for now. I guess that is the worst part about the JWT programming, you can't adjust anything and have to live with it the way it is. I would like to make more power out of the car, since it's built for it. http://nissaninfiniticlub.net/...t=500

powerwise thats pretty good.

of course you would make more power if you had the compression of what most of the 350 rwhp at 15 psi guys make (9.5:1 vs your 8.7:1)

JWT ecu's tend to run 14-15 deg. timing in WOT at 13-15 psi. some call that conservative, but for 93 octane, thats pretty good (not overly conservative and still will make some power and be safe).

now, throw some race gas in there (110 or 116), and ramp the base timing up another 3-4 deg. correctly and of course you'll make some more power.

do you have a fuel pressure gauge?

jwt has been know to send out some bad tunes. im putting in the same ecu tomorrow, hope it works out better for me

I was only running 91 octane, as that is the best I can get at the pump.

I don't have a fuel pressure gauge in the car, but I have checked it with a handheld gauge, it is close to the stock setting, but I know the gauge isn't 100% accurate. Still using the factory regulator as well...

Hmmm, maybe I'll just run race gas all the time.

I have to say thanks to all you guys on the forum, I really could not have done it without you!

91 may be causing a problem then

good job though so far

wait until you start pushing some real boost through, i have the same turbo kit if you didnt remember

Looks to me like a dead/dying fuel pump...or not enough voltage - Is yours hardwired on a seperate relay?

You should be able to run 15psi very easy with that setup. Knock should not even be a factor until you start to max out your injectors or fuel pump. So we know your injectors can make WAY more power, that leaves the fuel pressure. Or, you may be running a bad ECU tune that has to much advance. But I'd start with the fuel first, the beg borrow or steal a scanner and check out your WOT timing.

The stcok pump has been replaced with a Walbro 255l/hr unit, sill using the factory wiring. I'm also using two step colder plugs gapped to .030".

Structure- I've got a 5speed, always have, always will!

Speaking of lean mixture's....

I have the jwt ecu, 740cc inj and the Z32 maf and these are my a/f ratio's (wideband)

8 psi = 12.512 psi = 11.515 psi = 10.4

Thats the highest ive gone so far... According to jwt, base timming needs to stay at 20 degree's and u need to run 91 octane or better. And also retain STOCK fuel press regulator. OF course u can run race gas and advance the timming 2-3 degree's as noted earlier..

If the fuel pump is a problem, how much would the pressure drop off under WOT? Or what would an acceptable range be?

Would 5 psi be too much?

I plumbed in a mechanical gauge into my fuel line and I'm going to check it out today. I don't know how accurate it is, but it will give me a good indication of what it happening.

ANY fuel pressure drop is BAD.

The stock S14 pump can hold the correct pressure under ~12-13psi of boost...your Walbro should not drop AT ALL.

It's cheap insurance to hardwire it...see here:
