Went to Evil Genus Racing for a dyno day. $35 bucks for 3 pulls with afr readings.

My car was way too low to get on the dyno so I had to remove my front bumper to back up onto the machine. My intercooler was dragging on the ground while loading, and at the same time my accessory fuse which powered my boost controller...etc shut off due to my tire rubbing against the fender harness

I ran on 11psi wastegate setting only.

I didn't know about this until after the run.

I was kind of disappointed because I waited 2 hours just to get 11psi pulls. I am also more disappointed at the dyno graph, I have massive drop off after 6300ish rpm, so much for the Kelford cams...

Not sure if the drop off was due to a boost leak from my FMIC dragging on the ground and moving around when loading but my car was sure running rich as fu*k driving home... (cruising afr hi 12's, boost was below 10's)

284whp on a mustang equates to about 320whp on a dynojet, not bad for just 11psi (wastegate setting)

EDIT*** Boost was hitting 12.5psi then dropping to 11psi towards redline!

sux that you couldnt dyno it at 18 psi, oh well. Always next time, and your car felt faster than 284 whp when I rode in it, it felt loads faster than my friends 320 whp FC T2.

I don't know, the car feels like it doesn't drop off...

I'm clueless why it drops up in the top end so early?

Good numbers for low boost! hey sunny, i'm going n/a as of right now and i was wondering if you planning on selling your aem short ram intake pipe so that i can use it to adapt to my z32 maf. let me know thanks.

T3 set-up on its way as soon as i sell my t25 kit. so hopefully to be boosting high like you.

that is weird, with those cams the ka should make power all the way to at least redline, maybe 7K

Was boost steady all the way? Maybe it dropped a psi or two in the top end.

Something wrong, boost drops near the end about 1.5 psi at every setting i put it at.

I don't know anymore, after the dyno, i've just been real fustrated with this car.

Its just a dyno sheet and a number. You say it yourself, the car is fast as hell and feels like it pulls past 5500 rpms and doesnt drop off. So who cares what a dyno sheet says, they are meaningless IMO for anything other than tuning. 1/4th times and track times are all that really matters, oh, and the looks on the drivers face of the z06 you just pulled on.

Id be willing to bet that the cams respond better with more boost. I would say your power wouldnt drop off nearly as bad. In addition, the t2 flange could be choking you at higher rpms causing that 1-2 psi drop, although thats kinda a stretch. Also, your running pretty rich, average 10.7's in boost. Thats also going to cause you to lose some power. Do those readings agree with your AFR gauge on the car?

Also, running strait wastegate is not really the best way to get a steady boost setting. They will fluctuate some without a EBC.

Pressure test your IC system and see what you find.

Ideal AFR's are 12.5...

Coming from 10's thats a s***load of lost power. Especially at 11 psi, it's not like you were running out of octane. That thing needs a tune for power and gas mileage. She's quick now, wait till she's done right

I have the same problem, ever since I got my treadstone manifold in my boost drops off 1 psi at high rpms. I have a t3/t4 on 8 psi. I'm guessing it might be the manifold design or something.

I road tuned my car for over a week for 11.5 afr's across the map up until the dyno. Then after the dyno i've been hitting mid 10's across.

Car feels alot slower than it was before the dyno. Something is up...

12.5 is ideal but 11.5 is the safest for turbo.

My knock light detects knock when im in the mid 12's.

Why don't you do a boost leak test and check the wiring. Figure it out!!

Actually, 11.5 is the milit for as rich as you want it. If you have knock in the 12.s then you need to take away more timing under load. You shouldn't be octane limited until close to 18 psi, but you may have exhaust reversion a little with that tiny a** T2

Seriously though, 11.5 isn't as good as people think. You're using fuel to cool the ignition. You'll get a better combustion in the 12's, you just need to tune the timing side.

I think I may have found the culprit of the power dropping off...

Seems like every boost setting I chose, at around 5500rpms, the boost starts dropping off about 1.5 psi towards redline.

Weak internal wastegate? MaybeT2 flange choking? Maybe

I seem exhaust soot coming out between the head and manifold. All 4 ports have soot coming out between the runners. I am using a copper exhaust manifold gasket, I guess too much backpressure is blowing exhaust gas out the gasket.

I hate this car...

After REPEATED street pulls to test boost dropping off, I found at that with boost controller off, my boost hits 12.5psi and drops to 11psi towards redline so I will redit the post fixing my dyno chart!

I have the same turbo, and I'm going to be getting rid of it if someone offers me the right amount of cash. I remedied the choking issue by externally gating that manifold. It helped a bunch, but still isn't completely right. The turbo is a fast spooling, mid power street turbo in my eyes. I may finally end up going with an efficient T3/T4 or something of the likes. If everything works out, I may just get a new exhaust housing for mine, and go at it that way. We'll see.

Sucks to see you went through some crap getting that thing dyno'd. If you were closer, I would help fine tune your setup and burn some new chips for ya'. Keep us updated. I'm not taking my car out until the salt/snow is off the roads and the first good rain comes.

Another issue you're going to have Sunny is exhaust gas reversion. Which is when the the exhaust can't fully exit the combustion chamber. This can cause ALL kinds of problems man, the worst of which is severe detonation. I'm sticking by what I told Easy, run a big external wastegate if you want to use a T2 flanged turbo. It's the only way to move out enough exhaust gas.

Are you trying to say that his volumetric effieceincy is low? You think that T2 flange can choke off the exhaust system that much Brian?

When you add fuel and air to the intake side you need to be able to get rid of it on the exhaust side. If you're blowing out gaskets then F%^& yeah it's not efficient.

Not really a new thing here, been saying it for like...5 years now. T2 equals FAIL unless you're only looking for low boost. If I never wanted to run more then 8-10 psi, I'd run a T2 setup for sure. Cheap and effective at what they do. But I don't do anything just a little

lol just a little boost is out of the question, An external gate would raise his effieciency alot, but I dont know if it would be enough to stop the gasket blow out, So what now Sunnys?
