I just have a question. Is it the same Pistons in a standard L28E as in the L28ET.Just wondering becouse i`m going to convert a L28E into an L28ET.I have everything I need so far but I need to know if I have to change the pistons.I am putting in a Standard Garrett AiResearch TB03 turbo-charger from a ZXT.I am adding an Intecooler as well.

the pistons in the 280ZXT (81-83) are the same as the N/A 280Z (75-78), the cylinder heads are radially different, the 75-78 used either the N42 or the N47 yeilding a 8.3:1 cr, the 280ZXT's used the P90 yielding a 7.4:1 cr, same volume as the P79 but without the sleaved exhaust runners, the P79 came on blocks equipped with flat tops yielding an 8.5:1 cr (79-83 280ZX N/A), truely you can run the turbo on just about any combination so long as you keep the boost low, and if your planning on running the stock turbo distributor you're gonna have to swap out the distributor drive gear as the turbo dist uses a uique distributor

don't forget the oil supply lines and the return to the oil pan

if you've got an intercooler any combo should be ok, you might need to bumop the base fuel pressure a bit for the added compression, if you plan to keep low boost levels, i'd go for the 8.5:1 build or as close to it as possible, the higher compression will give you more off boost power and faster spool

the T4 has too large of a turbine, it would take too long to spool, the T3 is well stock, the T3O4E .63 A/TR with a 57trim wheel is what I am running, it's good to about 400whp max and spools quicker than the old stocker I replaced, I am considering playing with some different options as mine comes on rather violently, it's fun but not ideal for autocrossing which is my primary purpose for the car

L28e's came with flat top pistons while L28et's came with dish style which lowered the compression as well.

75-80 L28E's (N42 Castings) came with dishtop pistons and N42 or N47 series heads depending on year81-83 L28E's (F54 casting) came with flat top pistons and P79 heads81-83 L28ET's (F54 casting)came with dished pistons and P90 mechanical or P90A hydraulid heads (some of the A's made it out with the hybraulic lifters but this is the basic accepted guideline, 81 got the mechanicals 82-83 got the hydraulic's)

the F54 casting blocks have 3 sets of siameased cylinder bores, the N42 cast blocks have all 6 completely siameased
