280ZX won't go past 4000RPMS Help!

The other day I was out driving around town and theres a 30mph speed limit so I had no idea there was a problem, but as soon as I got out on the highway I floored it and as soon as it hits 4000RPMS in any gear or in neutral it cuts out, does anyone have any ideas?

fuel pump and the afm woudl be the most likely issues
