Found a 280ZX turbo for sale around here for $1500. I don't know much about it as I haven't talked to the owner yet. Body needs a little work, I didn't have enough light to check the frame.

Depending on condition, its certainly worth $1500 bucks if its clean. But if its a rust bucket and doesn't run worth a damn then its not. Get pics and more info and we'll let ya know

pretty much sums it up, look for rustr on the frame rails, quarterpanels and the floor pans, the engines are pretty stout, the injector connectors and dryrotted intake piping are typical causes of rough running, and the distributor and the ignitor and typical problems items that will keep it from running, but rust is the number one killer, sometimes the body just isn't worth saving, if it's not a rust bucket it's worth the asking price

I went and checked it out. 5spd, it has the vented hood and the 6 spokes (that means its a turbo correct?), I looked underneath and it doesnt look super rusty, just really dirty. I'm debating because I would love an old Z but I could probably put a new engine in 1 of the 3 240's I have lol. It's gold with a tan interior I believe.

no that actually sounds like it's not a turbo, if it's a turbo it should have badges that say turbo, the 4th digit in the vin number should be 'C" and it'll have a turbo most of the turbo's had the "swastica" style wheel (think directional 4 spoke), the 81 turbo's had the snowflake wheels but they were all automatic's

the rust you need to look for is above the rear crossmsmber where it bolts to the floor pans behind the seats, and in the frame rails inside the front wheel wells, and at the back lower part of the quarter panels, the good news is it's easy to swap a turbo motor in
