280zx turbo. fuel pump

Hi i have a 1983 280zx turbo . the fuel pump has stopped working but when its removed and given an independent power sorce its fine. does anyone know what the problem is?

could be the AFM, if it's stuck open or bad it won't alolow the fuel pump to come on, also the fuel pump relay turns the power on adn off, and the fuel pump modulator located above the ECU modulates the voltage to the pump

Have you checked fuses and fusable links?

The fuel pump relay is in a block of 3 relays in the far right side of the dash. Remove the glovebox to get at them.

Check connections under the rear deck carpet for the fuel pump as well if all the fuses look good. and, if there is one specific for the fuel pump, replace it even if the fuse appears good. (or swap it with another fuse)
