could be a few things, first the afm, check the connector at the afm, and when I say check it I mean unplug it make sure there is no moisture inside either side of the connector (remember that hose you blew?)

CHTS, or CTS, it's located int he lower thermostat housing, it's ont he passanger side of the head, the connector looks like an injector clip, make sure it's connected securely, if it's disconnected the car runs stupid rich to the point that it floods itself

ignition, check the distributro cap for moisture (again open it up, that blown hose was right next to the distributor) also check the plug and coil wire boots, any mositure inside there can cause loss of spark

fuel pressure, sometimes the fuel pump dies slowly, it will provide enough pressure for idle but when you rev and the vac drops the fuel pressure raises and the pump shuts off, this is an easy test, just place an inline pressure gauge between your fuel folter and the fuel rail (bonus points if oyu add enough hose to place the gauge under a wiper arm so you can keep an eye on pressure when you drive) should be around 42 psi at idle and climp as rpm increases while driving

The speedo cable? There is nothing about the speedo that effects the way the car runs, perhaps it was a moisture issue that dried up and resolved itself

it cant be..because the whole day i had been working on the car an drying things out nothing helped. i took the car up the driveway and then back down disconnected the speedo cable went back up the driveway and there was no issue......some mysterious wet connector somehow dried up in 45 seconds? im going to reconnect the cable tomorrow and see if the problem comes back, but that would be the craziest coincidence if i diconnected the speedo cable for no reason and the problem solved its self..

when you disconnected it did the speedomter stop working? the speedo cable drives the speedo, cmes form the tailhousing of the trans, comes up and through the firewall and intot he back of the gauge cluster directlu beind the speedometer

ya..no idea how fast im going but the car works.. still havnt reconnected that cable i had a long day today but i want to see if the car still runs right when its reconnected, hopefully ill have some info tomorrow, but just wondering if i do reconnect the cable and the car goes ape s*** again what could that possibly mean? as far as i know the ecu was only needed for translating the info from the afm and tps so it has proper air/fuel besides the injectors and a few small meters, like you said the speedo is mechanical and not electronic sooooo.

if you reconnect the cable and the car starts acting wierd then you have some sort of ground or short, there is nothing electric abotu the speedo cable and if it's trying to groudn through the cable or short then there is another groudn or short issue you must find
