Hey guys, new to it all. uhh, 18 and getting my dad's 1982 280ZX non turbo. went from a 2008 honda to this and i just heard a lot of great things about this car. just wondering what's there to do with this car?

i've heard of two options already,

swap to the turbo L28

or

Convert to carburetor

has anyone done this before? and if so how was the gain? i've never played with a carburetor before but i've heard you've got to tune it real good. i really have no idea what to do with this car... anyone have any suggestions?

sorry if i had repeated any newbish questions hehe.

You can do either, the turbo probably being the best idea.

What's wrong with the car? If there's any rust, that should be priority number one.

the exterior is in good shape, he just had it painted candy apple red not too long ago. the interior, needs a bit of work. but that's just cleaning. no accidents, no dings, or scratches on the exterior. to be honest i love the way the car looks, i just would love to make it go a liitttle faster hehe.

the turbo swap has the advantage of looking stock, even though you car didn't come turbo many like your did so to the uneducated ti looks stock, the carb swap can be tricky to tune but can still be very rewarding, really it's a matter of what you are most comfortable with

well i think i'm going to end up doing a carb swap. hehe. Now another question sorry... i noticed that the front end on the older 280ZX is different from the 82 model. now, i also have a friend who's got a total older 280ZX however the front end is fine. Would i be able to swap that onto my 82???

again sorry if i sound too much like a young guy tuning a honda or something hehe.

you want the heavier uglier early front end? yes you can swap you need all the bits but I'd recomend against it, the 82-83 was the best looking of the S130's by far IMHO
