Hello everyone ! Just thought I'd join since I read a lot off this site.I bought a 280zx 1983 this year and love the car.Im researching the horsepower a stock diff can take on these cars.During winter I'm putting in a R32 skyline engine with a modified single turbo. The total output at crank is 443hp,so I'm wondering if the stock diff will hold up to such abuse? Any tips or opinions would be welcomed

Th RB26DETT is rated at 276 CHP, granted it is underrated. It's fuel injectors are a limiting factor and with enough mods they can make the 443 you suggest and more, of course so can the L28ET but thats beside the point. The skyline came with a short case R200, the S130 came with the long case R200, same internals so yes it'll take it, it'll take that and about all you can throw at it. Of course the S130's all came with open diffs so you won't be able to plant enough power with that one wheel do hurt anything anyhow.

Great thanks for that info, now ill have to find a kit to lock the diff.Having high horsepower with one wheel spinning would frankly be pointless.

87.5-89 300zx turbo's came with CLSD factory, cuusco, quaiffe and just about every other mfg on the planet make lsd's for the r200, the skyline I believe came with the viscous, not as good but better than open and it'll go in the long snout case you just have to swap the gears and set it.
