I have been on google for 2 hours looking for a Nissan/Datsun 280z, 1981 Stereo wiring diagram. And I'm about to blow my brains out all over this keyboard in a second. SO, We have a factory like 500pg manual but all it tells you to do with the stereo is how to remove it. And it goes a little something like. Unscrew Bolt, Remove Wiring Harness(es). Pull Out. Sweet right. I checked through 30+ pages of wiring diagrams full page and nothing. If anyone can get ahold of one for me thatd be GREAT!

To find out the speaker wires, locate the speakers and check the wiring on the back. Usually the bigger plus is pos while the smaller is neg, just write down the colors for each speaker.

After you've eliminated the speaker wires, all you really need to do is find the 12v+ wire because you can find your own grounding point. If you have a voltmeter handy ground one prong of the meter while rubbing wires against the other prong. When you have a 12v+ reading, you've found your power source wire, which you can tap the red and yellow wires from the head unit harness to. If that doesn't work just grab some old speaker wire and run it straight to the battery from the deck, just make sure you have a fuse somewhere in there.

Still wont work. We can get it to light up the screen so it has power but we can't get it to function. He says the speakers all work so the Remote & Illumination are the only ones? Got any other ones? Its a 81 Nissan 280z.
