i am 18 i don't know anything about these cars. Only that they look badass. I am wanting to purchased one or the other but i was wondering the difference in the two and the advantages and their disadvantages. Thanks for the help if any given.

There are alot of differences between the various years of the early body style (HS30) Zcar.

Early cars (70 - 73) are light weight with few creature comforts. These are the most desirable for collectors. Also harder to find.

73s have some upgrades but have undesirable intake setup.

74 260Z is a transition car. It is find as a driver but not likely to be a collectable. Same carbs as a 73.

75 280Z. Bigger engine to recover lost power. Bosch Fuel Injection replaces carburators. More comfort inside and a softer ride. New bumpers are much bigger and change the look of the car. The bumpers work. You can hit something HARD with no damage.

76 - 78 280Z. More upgrades, more comfort, more weight, less speed. 5 speed becomes available.

In looking for a Z watch for rust. they all rust and it is expensive to fix. Everything else is cheap.

Budjet $3500 to $4500 for a good driver.

These cars are not fast by todays standards. A healthy civic will run with it. A well built CRX will eat its lunch!

I dont know what you are talking about, my best friend has a 1995 Nissan 240SX SE with a CAI, 300cc injectors, pacesetter header, test pipe and borla cat back on the KA24DE, plus 245/50ZR16 and a 3.92 VLSD and I took his lunch money baaad in my 1977 5spd 280Z open wheel. I would have destroyed him if i werent having clutch grip issues...lol, the 280Z is a quick fun car, its not blistering fast, but its not slow either, although mine does have significant wiehgt reduction in the floorboard area....hmmm, i hate rust
