I want to swap a 280z motor into my 240sx. my 240 is an 89 sohc, the datsun has an inline 6. is this possible and how hard would this be? is it worthdoin it is the question.

my friend has a datsun that runs awesome but no title, and I have a 240, so I started brainstorming. has anyone done this before?

Well, the engine in the 280Z is rated at 149 hp and 163 ft lbs of torque. Fairly close to a KA24DE. Swapping in the newer KA should be much easier than trying to get the Z engine in there. Besides, KA's can be had for fairly cheap and the swap is well documented.

So, unless you really want to do this just to see if it can be done...I'd pass.

Still, if you got it to work your car would most likely be one of kind!

Damn, the prob is I dont have any money and i can get my friends Z on credit, and I need a new motor, so I was thinking this was my best chance, but I will just sell something and get another KA if its not worth it. I mean i can do all the swapping and stuff w/ me and my friends. Just need to know if its possible, and how hard. but I will prolly hold out and do somthing else. damn, thanks though, everyone.

v8 = $$$$$

Do the old motors have the same mounts? I know pretty mutch all the 90's RWD nissans have the same motor mounts. If so it's just a matter of fuel and spark. You'll need a driveshaft of some kind too cause i'll bet the Z one won't work.

That is a wonderful idea. You'd have to fab all of the mounts, but it would be worth it. You could easily get more power out of that engine, and if you are confident that you could do the work, I say go for it. It should definately fit since a skyline engine will.

are you saying the 280zx turbo is a good idea or the V8?

I was refering to the 280 swap. Are there mounts for the LT1? If you have a link I'd be interested.
