I just thought I would let everyone know that I got 28.2 mpg on my trip back to Indy from Atlanta. That was with an average speed of 78.4 mph. Not too bad. I just keep finding things that make me glad that I bought this car.

20 isn't too bad for a Q. I thought that you guys were getting more around 18 on the highway.

Hell on my old Q I could get 22-23... Not sure why this one is less fuel efficient because it is in a much better state of tune...

I thought I kept hearing about the Q's not getting much better than 16 or so in the city and 18-19 on the highway. Has there been a large discrepency within the Q owners about the type of gas mileage? I that the G has had some rather large discrepencies. There have been G owners reporting as low as 12mpg in the city where as I get between 21 and 23 in the city.

w00t for 28mpg, I got the same on my trip down there and back with the a/c on the whole time, kinda stoked, but then again the 240 is only 4cyl and probably weights considerably less than your G. Very cool none the less, congrats

it just depends. With older cars like the Q it mainly depends on the maintenance history and what state of tune the car is in... That being said, as long as theres not a hole in the gas tank or an injector isnt just spraying everywhere, any Q should be able to get 18mpg iwthout much difficulty.....

I usually get around 13 in the city. but city driving is even different, MY city driving cycle is like 10mins tops of driving without getting above 50mph evar (unless im late )... Ive done city cycles where I drive for like 20mins each startup and i can ge t 16... Its all about how long the car is being driven..... with about 50/50 highway/city i can get about 17...

However ive found that it all equals out, IE you end up having to get gas at the same amount of time...

With something like the G, it really depends how theyre broken in.. When we first got our Grand Prix GTP, wed only get like 14mpg for the first few tanks, now we rarely get below 19..... IT takes a few thousand miles...

I think a lot of my gas mileage has to do with the transmission.. With the rebuilt torque converter I have you gain the acceleration but its not as efficient as the stock converter

That's not too bad for the 240 either. I was pleasantly surprised. After I filled up between Chattanooga and Nashville, there was a stretch of about 20 miles where I was getting 36.9. I think if I might have babied my drive a little more and kept the speed down to about 65 or so, I would have been able to maintain close to if not a little over 30mpg.

It does seem that the longer I have had the car the better my mileage has gotten. I passed the 48k mark on my way back to Indy and I have been getting better gas mileage than ever. I am a little more conscientious about gas mileage now that gas prices are so high. Driving a little easier and less spirited has saved a couple mpg.
