Im trying to decide on a set of drag radials for my car now that i have money again. Im between 275 nitto 555r's to put on my 5zigen 17x9 rims in the back or to get z32 TT rear rims that are 8.5" and put BFgoodwrich 255 T/A drag radials on. the bfg wears quicker but i would only put on those wheels for when i would be racing. the nitto's i could have on all the time and are a little wider and would last me a year with how often i drive my car. imnot sure what to go for. if the bfg will grab as good as the wider nitto than i think i will go with them.

also the bfg i found says it can be mounted on a 6.5-10" rim. that means i could put it on my stock SE wheels but would the sidewall be bulging too much to make it unsafe to drive on the street? this is why i was going to get the z32 wheels

The BFG will stick like glue and hook up better but they are not going to hold up to daily driving. If they are going to be strictly for drag use, I'd go with the BFG. They just don't handle very well in corners due to the sidewall construction. The are designed for straight line runs and do that well. They would also be worn down past the 'tread design' very quickly (the local police may not look kindly on that if you ever get pulled over).

Yeah, they just aren't going to be the best handling tire for steering response and wet traction.

i understand that and i'm ok with it. if thats what ill be doing with them is it ok to put on my stock 6.5" as it list or would it be much more beneficial to get a z32 rim thats 8-8.5"

the nitto "Drag radials" arent relaly as good as peole think for hooking up, just ask aries.

the BFG on the other hand, is a bad-*** DOT legal drag tire. I agree with grant, the BF is good for drag use only.

you can run the nt555r "year round" without too big a problem, but realise thats the compromise, a tire designed to do daily driving isnt an drag tire, and vice versa.-chet

Don't the 555 have a M and S rating? To my understanding M/S rated tires don't have that good of traction
