just wondering if anyone who has used these or know about them know if they just drop right in or do you need to build the head a little or modify the motor internally? Also is says stock springs are ok but what about retainers and valves? Stock is okay too?As always, thanks in advance!

IF Jim Wolf says the factory springs are ok to use with these cams I would imagine the retainers and valves would be ok as well. Depending on whether or not this you will be reving your engine high, or for long periods of time it probably wouldn't hurt to get the stiffer springs. Stiffer springs will help prevent valve float at sustained high RPMs. As for other prep of the head for the install i'm not sure, but if you called Jim Wolf Tech. they would probably help you out.

yea i talked to them and they said the stock springs/valves/and retainers are all okay for this cam setup....the only thing he said to do was to check the clearance on the valves or something? They may have to be shimmed? i was confused with this, can anyone help explain?

Yeah, that's the only valve clearance i can think of off the top of my head. The clearance should probably be set to the factory specs.

Stock Springs are fine, and you shouldn't need shimms, though it wouldn't hurt to check.

i hear from everyone that anything bigger than 264 would require head work

i have heard the same thing. anything over 264 requires new springs and retainers. if it has a tall lobe it will obviously push the valve farther down. which takes more time for it to close, and being that the stock springs are meant of exactly that, stock. so tech you can get valve float at a lower rpm. i imagine you will be pushing it. just be safe and upgrade it truely never hurts.
