I'm new to the G35 "experience" and i saw a set of staggered rims that i had in mind and i was wondering if the tire size listed above would be too wide or would they sit on without any complications

Might be a little tall. If going with 275 get 35 or 40 sidewall.

Just on the sidewall. I have 265/30/19 on rear, 19" sport wheels of course, looks fine (except I wished I'd went with 35 sidewall). I plan on doing 275/35 for next set.

275 on front 8" wheel would be too big.

I did just assume the OP was referring to a set of OEM 19's, otherwise we'd need to know the wheel sizes/offsets.

that is what I meant.

Technically 275 is too wide for a 8.5" wheel also.

You want a 275 tire, then get a wider wheel.

For the G35 19" sport rims, 275-45's will work fine. I had Yokohama S-Drives 245/35 for the front and 275/35 for the rear.

285/35 is the widest tire you can put on the stock 19X8.5" wheels.

This is all a matter of opinion for the most part, but NO tire manufacturer recommends running a 275 tire on a 8.5" wheel yet alone a 285 tire on a 8.5" wheel. This is the same theory as the folks that think running 225-245 tires on 10" wheels is alright.

And to say it again at 275/45 is TOO TALL for the 19" wheels. That size is 7.5% off the OEM tire diameter, which is 2" bigger in overall diameter. 275/35/19 is exactly what it should be.

Most manufacters also aren't taking the sidewall into consideration. The 265-275 with low sidewall looks and fits fine on the 8.5".

The 265/30/19 on my rears:

RED's probably correct about the /45's. The VDC may not like it at all...you may have to have the ECU reprogrammed with the larger tires to allow the VDC system to work.

The 275/35's were an optional size from tirerack.com. There were plenty of people that said the world would end if I put that size on...(mainly from other forums). But it was perfectly safe...and the look was much better than stock imo.

When comparing 19" wheels then 275-35 is the proper size for the rear and 245-40 for the front.

Forgive me for saying so but... Get the tires as wide as you want, and for gods sake dont get anything bigger than 19" rims. Perhaps a little off topic here but 20" and up rims are for douchebags and people who like to destroy any and all ride quality on their cars. Anything less than a 45 series tire is completely unnecessary and will only make the car ride harsher than it needs to, with little to no gain in cornering ability. Every time I see some moron on the road with 20'' rims wrapped in a paper thin tire I just want to reach out and smack the idiot behind the wheel :slap:. Sorry for using your thread to get this one off my chest, but man I really hate that lol. So please, everyone and anyone, if you know anything about cars or if you know nothing about cars please stop the 20''+ wheel and 30 series tire atrocity. Especially on such a fine car as the G35. For those that own a Hummer H2 with 23" wheels and 30 series tires... well, theres just no helping these massive morons. Remember, 19" or less with a maximum of 40 series tires. Anything else is just stupid and no those 20"+ rims do not make your d!ck bigger or your car faster, so why add the weight and harsh ride. Oh yeah, you dont look cool either, douchebag. Sorry, I'm done now.

^^Dr. Uzi,

A little harsh, but your main points about wheel size and tires are pretty accurate as far as ride quality. What people don't realize (for some, until it's too late) that wheels will bend/crack and tire sidewall will bubble. Then, you're replacing both wheel and tire at the same time. I should know, previous car was a B6 S4 with 235/35 on 19s. Would have to replace at least one wheel/tire a year because CA roads suck! One pothole was so bad, my wife driving my car damaged both wheels/tires on right side and there were several other cars pulled over on the freeway until CHP arrived to divert traffic.

I have 17s now, if I ever upgrade, 18s will be 45 series, 19s will be 40 series at least. I was hoping all of my wheel/tire upgrades would make my pen!s bigger over the years, but instead, it got smaller. :tisk:

lol i say the same thing about huge rims... but those people are going for looks. they could care less they are adding weight to the car, destroying ride quality, premature brake wear, lower MPG, and transmission wear. They just want to be seen, and it worked LOL cause you posting about it.

I just laugh when they try and speed past, engine making a big roar because its struggling to move those over sized wheels LMAO.
