I just wanted to check. The s13 Silvias used the 26mm z32 brakes for the front, right? And will they fit stock 89 wheels?

If silvia's had z32 brakes stock, then it would be a direct bolt up-- but it's not. It requires a 5 lug conversion or redrilling the rotors. 26mm z32 calipers will not fit behind certain wheels. The only stock s13 rims they will barely fit behind are the 91-92'' seven-spoke alloys.

I consider the Z brake to be a bolt on affair since all you need is to remove your old caliper, put on a set of rotors redrilled, and then install the caliper with a new brake line. Not like I have to do a lot of custom fabbing to do that.

I just really like the crap-tacularness of the 89 wheels. How about spacers?

HA I'm serious, I really like them. They're cool in a really ugly back-to-the-furture kind of way.

........

Wait... that's probally the logic people use when they buy spinners! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I was sure that the S13 brakes elsewhere were a tiny bit larger than our USDM brakes. Certainly not z32 brakes, but just a tiny step up.

So if I were going to do a Z-brake swap on my S13, I'd purchase the 26mm calipers and Z rotors? What year Z is that?

90 NA. 90 also had a twin turbo version with 30mm calipers.

Greg, hit up car-part.com. you can land some good and cheap calipers through them. I just got mine in, and for 45 bucks, I couldn't beat it. Even if it needed to have the pistons and seals replaced

I'll just go get a set of rebuilds at AutoZone.

Think they'll take my 240 calipers as cores?

Z calipers are a lot like brembos in design. I've had guys at advance auto tell me that even though they know of the difference, they would still take the core swap. I just don't trust advance's set of remans

I think that's what I'll do.

So I'll need 90-96 n/a Z rotors as well, and I'll have to have them redrilled? Who does that?

if you stick with the 26mm calipers, you'll need rotors to match, so same year Z. 90 N/A. I'm getting a set from heavy throttle. I priced out Z rotors, and the cheapest I could find them was $55 a piece. I figure I'll gladly pay a little more to get them already drilled for 4 lug and cross drilled.

If you get a stock set of rotors, take them to a machine shop and explain what you need done.

Well, I just found I can use Alty rotors and calipers (they are identical to 180sx brakes), and Alty calipers are $32 new.

Might hafta do this one....

I just bought remanned 300z calipers from advance and returned my 240 calipers as the cores, they didn't even look in the box. most of the time they don't.
