So I got the car back yesterday from putting in a new engine. Took it to the dyno to tune with the new t3/t04e 57 trim. At 11psi I hit 268rwhp/271 torque. I'll put up the dyno sheet wed. night after I go to the race track and find out my 1/4 mile time. For now, just a huge grin on my face evrytime I'm in my car. Btw, the engine is bone-stock and I've been beating up on it already.

he is forgetting that he has a automatic transmission also. :P so kinda take in some kind of additional whp power loss.

{threadjack]*btw for anyone who is wondering, my second and third gear bands are getting weak after 8 months and about 9,000 miles w\ an estimated daily 275 whp. I beat on the car so if you are more of a conservative driver i can see your automatic ka-t transmission lasting a bit longer(or if you are making less power). This was with 20+ runs down the 1\4 mile, 5 drift events and 2 of those were on a private track so i was driving very very hard all day long. I drove the hell out of the car when it was na also for 25,000 miles. If your are more conservative, i would say your transmission would last about 12,000 miles before it starts to develop even more delayed shifting.*{\end}

timing is at 15 degrees. not sure about the gap. as for the compression it was 160 across (the motor had112k miles on it)

Are you sure you just didn't burn up the fluid in that trans that's "delaying" in the shifting (also known as "shift flare")? When I was the Svc. Mgr. at Mitsubishi we experienced shift flares in the large Montero quite early (like 30k miles) and it was ALWAYS cured by a good trans flush. In fact, the only one I can remember that wasn't cured was one with like 150k+ miles.

Just a thought.

wait wait, why 15 degrees timing? Isn't that WAY to much timing retard? What kind of gas are you running? Werid I am pulling 21 degrees timing at 10psi. PUMP 92 gas, oh yeh.. YES another automatic KA-T !

well i think hes running 15 degrees base timing. so that means his total timing is at 23 degrees. which is still alittle bit on the scary side for me running 11 psi.

but non the less, great numbers, esp for a engine that kinda has lower compression and less boost. but i'm assuming its the advanced timing thats getting you those power numbers.

With a cooler and a good fluid the transmission in the 240 should last forever with 300 lbs of torque give or take a few. The internals are almost identical to the Skyline GTS-t.

i changed the transmission fluid at 95,000 miles, its at 107,000 now, about 9,000 miles at 10psi.

it still shifts fine \ same at part throttle. wot takes about 2 seconds on the first to second shift though.

im running about 22 degrees (total) at 10psi.

oops, no transmission cooler.

i have all my 5spd parts in the garage.

I ran a nice big transmission cooler in my Skyline, worked wonders. Hot fluid will wreak havoc on the transmission and torque converter.

I'm actually working on gathering all the info that I need to install a transmission cooler. btw, if anyone knows which one to go with, I'd appreciate it.

Wow looks like there are a few blown AT's out there. Good news to know that the auto trans will hold up to 300WHP

Any transmission cooler that's longer the 12" in the Summit Racing catalog will work fine.
