Well I got some cams for it, the timing is correct, and all that good stuffs, its kicks really hard after 4k but before that I lost all my low end power! :( I kinda wondering if this is normal for the cams if anyone else has them, there might be something else wrong with my car, and it might need some other mods to mkae it work right. So what do you guys think what it is, I don't think to many of you guys have these cams.

Yes it's normal, what turbo are you running, what suporting mods do you have allready, that has a lot to do with what we'll tell you to fix. Jay did a dyno pull today before and after installing a set of cams. Made 9rwhp up top, but lost about that down low. The motor didn't 'make up for it' untill it got past 5500rpm. Now with a bigger turbo that flows more up high (he had a T28) you'd see a bit better peak HP numbers. But your still going to loose some down low.

how is my car gonna feel with a redtop with HKS stage 2 264/272 greddy valve springs RAS 1.2mm head gasket, intake, 3" dp and exhaust, FMIC, t25 and 10psi? Am I gonna lose ALOT of low end power?

well generally with high flow intakes and exhausts you lose low end torque to gain high end horsepower. So given that and the bigger cams i would say the low end loss will definitely be noticeable. I am sure you will more than make up for it on the top end however. Going from 7 to 10 lbs might help you out down low or using a 2.5 or 2.75" exhaust if you want to retain some of the low end. Just my opinion though, I am by no means an expert.

Yeah well im still running the stock T25, and I use to run 14psi of boost with FMIC and Full 3inch exaust, now I have turned it down to 10psi and put the Cams on, it just seems the air is going into the chamber and jumping right outta it. Im not sure about these things...

it might also be that at 14psi the turbo wasnt running very efficiently and now at 10 lbs the turbo is a lot healthier

Why did you buy the cams? I am not flaming but that is the purpose of cams...to change the power band. If you have a upgraded turbo that you want to take advantage of the spooling capabilites at higher rpms (i.e. not the t25 or 28 for that matter) then cams, valve springs, valves, RAS would be a great investment.

What you essentialy did was put the sweet spot of the t25 in a different place.

Although nrcooled was nice enough to not flame, I have to. Have to, because of past transgressions. Past transgressions that I had even forgotten about, until the original post popped back up on the first page:

Tai: "Oi... when ricers invade nissan, not a good thing...at 9k your engine will be making crap power, so why even put your car threw that? why?"

Now this comes from the guy, who busted my chops for asking questions about cams and headwork about a year ago? So just because I can, I gotta take someone's own quote and use it against them... Tai: "Oi... when ricers invade nissan, not a good thing...

:rolleyes

Wow you like to hold gruges don't you?

I dont rev past 7500 rpm's I still have a stock vavle train, yes you can upgrade your vavletrain but you need a turbo that will breath up there, a T25 losses breath very quick, so if you want to make power up high you will need a larger turbo liek a GT30XX. Sorry, but at the time alot of people were asking alot of stupid questions....

It's not so much that I hold grudges, it's just that I like busting people's balls. =)

In all seriousness, I hadn't even remembered about you bagging on me until the Valve Train post of mine from like nine months ago, suddenly popped up again because someone replied to it. Then I saw that, and your cam question... and I couldn't resist busting your balls.

Lots of luck with getting your tuned though. Since originally posting my questions, I've decided to stay away from cams altogether. The SR20 can make enough power for my taste, without having to resort to cam profile changes. I'm still amazed at the difference between 7psi with the stock KA exhaust, and 7psi with the 3inch Meagan Racing exhaust. The difference in driveability is like night and day.

Another thing that may help out with those cams i think, would be some cams gears if you dont have them. Since you are using the stock turbo, the cams and turbo basically are out of sync with each other, when the cams come on, the turbos falling off, when the turbos at the sweet spot, the cams arent quite there yet. There seems to maybe be a little bit of rpms where they both are in the good (the kick in 4000 rpms), but mostly they arent matched well. take some of the overlap out of the cams, and maybe some of the bottom end will come back. Lightwieght fly? hell i dunno, im mostly a ka guy...but i thinkin about switchin....uh oh.
