Hey guys I was wondering if 255 would be too wide for an 8in wheel?Does any one have any pics? I am thinking it might bulge out too much but am not 100% sure.Any input would be helpful

hmm, I could have sworn 245 on 8 was a perfect squareWell I still have two more questions:What is Tread Squirm city?

And I'm thinking of going with a staggered setup, 7in F and 8in. R, does running 215 and 235 respectively sound right? Or would I be able to get away running 225 and 245 respectively without the bulge?

Once again thanks for the help guys

Don't overlook aspect ratio because only the full equation will lead you to the answers you need.

And even then, Different tire manufacturers use different yardsticks to measure their tires.225/45-17 from Yokohama to Falken to Toyo will have different casing and sidewall thickness, different tread depths, different overall diameters, different section widths. They will usually be close but we deal sometimes with such a minute margin for error that the answer will always be to mount one up and see what you think.

IMO, you should disregard 7" altogether.

You should make the goal to keep overall diameter as close to oem as possible. Any taller and you lose gearing, response.

8" 215/45-17 for the slightest of stretch. Not really even stretched.

9" 225/45-17 has stretch. 245/40-17 is ideal for fitment (very slight angle on stretch) and ideal overall diameter, but isn't available in a ton of brands.255/40-17 is getting to be too tall. diameters range from 25" to 25.20" both of which are above oem OD.But on the 9" with 255/40-17 you get a square shoulder. The trick is, this doen't fit for **** under the back of an s13 unless you start to roll fender.

The only problem with a perfectly square tire/wheel is it becomes harder to tuck and harder to clear the coilover spring perch. Sometimes to get a solid fitment, you need that sightest bit of stretch, like the 215/45-17 on 8" or 225/40 on 8.5" etc

Well as much as I would like to diregard the 7" wheel I really can't find any other sizes in four lug. my Ideal setup would be 8in in the front and 9in in the rear but finding wheels like that in 4 lug is like finding a needle in a haystack for(without going over budget of course). Oh and this is going on an S14.Actually I found some 17x8 +35 & 17x9 +35 Work VS wheels (The wheels I was previously talking about were 16x7 +30 & 16x8 +30) but I think the offset is a bit too high for that wide of a wheel. Any input?

Everything SRSmith said is ded on.

SPL sells 17x9 +20 FN01RC in 4H.

This is an S14? DAMN, just get 17x9 +20 all the way around and run 245/40 tires.

16s on an S14 look lame, there is no way to justify spending 1300$ on wheels and only go .5in wider than stock.

There is no way on gods green earth that I am putting FNO1RC's.And I tend to like the way 16's look on S14's since I have 15in wheels on right now (because its a base model). This is the main reason why I am having trouble finding wheels They are just too hard to find in the right size and specs

yeah what's wrong with 16" wheels if you can find them in a decent width? IMO 16 fit an s13 or s14 perfectly, 17" start to look a little big, and 18+ is like woah.

i still have a set of the 16x7.5" kosei wheels. they're for sale. pics are in my cardomain page in my sig.i noticed a difference between the kosei and the new 17" mustang cobra wheels. The cobra wheels are slower, but it may be because there is a taller tire mounted to them. My car was definitly quicker on the kosei's

Yeah I like the way 16's look without aero(but I have a Greddy front lip). If your wheels were 4 lug I would have bought them like 3 weeks ago, but unfortunately they are not I did not know you were going RB20 there is not much of the 2.0 out there, how much has it run you so far, if you don't mind telling me?

chandler, email sent240sxjeff... whatever you pay for the engine itself, expect to pay that in replacement parts to get it ready (ex: clutch, timing belt, water pump, etc)
