Hey Everybody,

Its that time to put new tires on the q45. I refuse to put tires on the turbine wheels lol. I can purchase a set of 350z touring wheels with tires for 100! The tires on the wheels are 255/45/18. I would like to know if 255's would work on the front and do they have a picture of them on a g50? Thanks

What is the Offset?

When I bought the car it had 17" bbs rx's(8" wide) with Goodyear GS-D3's 255-45 ZR17s. The problem was that when you went close to lock the inside edge of the tread would rub on the third member. I had to be very careful doing u-turns and things like that. After time the tires got worn down to the cords just because of this rubbing.

Moral of the story is it depends on you wheels, I think mine have +25mm offset so if yours have zero or negative I think you may be okay. I ended up going to 245s, absolutely no problems now.

Edit*:
I think I found the offset for your wheels and it seems to be 30mm, so I think that you may run into problems like I had. You can run them, you will just have to be careful.

Yeah they are 30 mm I will just get some 245s for the front to be safe. The whole set is only costing 100 so it won't be to bad on the wallet lol. Thank you

The problem on the Z wheels is the offset, they don't really have enough offset so they have a tendency to rub on the outside. Even 245-45-18 would have trouble fitting in the rear.. You might be better off going with a 245-40-18 with an XL load rating.

i'm running a slightly different setup (245/40/19-F, 255/40/19-R) on G35 rims (same offset as Z), but as far as width, 255 would rub on the front, especially if you lower it.

Either way you go make sure you go with XL load rating or pay the price. I had a set of Bridgestone 050A's that were very good tires but not XL and ended up blowing out the sidewall on an expansion joint after only 12k on them. The Michelin's I have now are 98 XL!

On 9x18 wheels ET35, 255/40 will work.

On anything narrower, say 8.5 - 8.0 wide in the proper offset, you will be much better off with 245/45-18.

There are many grades of RE 050A. The XL rated one is identified as "Pole Position." Ours on the FGY33 lasted quite long and were very strong, maybe even a little better than the PS2. Not as good as the PS3.

Brian, do you have a preference toward the PS3's or PSS's... Seems like many people prefer the PSS's over the PS3's..

I have a set of PS2's that I got crazy cheap, I think I'm going to run the PS2's on the front of my M coupe, and get some PSS's for the rear. I don't really want to get mismatched tires, but I don't want to get rid of these PS2s if I don't have to.

Might work, but I would rather match to PS2 or PS3. Or sell the PS2 and get PSS. I have the latter on two cars and couldn't be more pleased.

I laugh when people say they are expensive when I think what is is worth to stay in control of the car in emergency situations, even if it is just staying out of the trunk of the Prius that just cut you off going 40 mph slower.
