Hey looking for some input on street tire setup.

Car will mainly be a drift car but I will street it as well on different wheels. 18x9 front 18x10.5 rear.

Car should be around 500whp. Main modifications include forged bottom end. 2 gt2860rs turbos, msp manifolds, 740cc injectors, 3" exhaust, bigger intercooler, and all other necessary modifications.

Basically I just got everything put together after the car being down for almost a year. Right now its sitting on 225's all the way around. Too small for the new setup. I currently work at Firestone and get half off all bridgestone tires including the re11 which retails at $250-$300 a tire depending on size. However I may be leaving to work for the city soon so I'd like to take advantage of the discount while I can.

For a street setup, is 255 up front 285 out back good? Will it hit the fenders?, they are rolled and I'm on coils, but now that the car is built, I won't stance it out again. Rather just lower it a bit. Can I fit 295 out back? Should I run 265 up front? Questions questions questions...

It depends on your offsets what you can run. I have a 255/285 setup on mine with a 18x9 +18 and 18x10 +35 running -2.5 front and around -2 rear

IIRC 18x9+25 18x 10.5+30. They aren't super low offset. 2.5" lip front 4" lip rear. Front camber I'm not sure on yet being its dual wishbone. 240sx guys run anywhere from -4 to -6 but they are MacPherson strut, which acts differently under compression and cornering than dual wishbone. They do this so at full lock the outside tire sits flat, as it goes positive at full lock. I've read dual wishbone goes slightly negative. I'm not positive tho I need to ask around to all the miata or gtr guys that have wishbone what they run for a static camber setting. As far as the rear I'll be close to zero. Apparently you want that for maximized forward traction.

And straight line stability. But some negative camber aids in cornering.

Really I'm just trying to figure out the largest tire I can stuff in the fenders.

I am curious as well, just not to that point yet. What is the widest tire you can run on the back, preferably on a 17" rim but throw numbers out. (sorry for the jack)

This guy /\ haha

It applies tho so I'm ok with it.

I think I'll buy some 285's tomorrow and see what happens. I converted.10.5" to mm and it comes out to 266mm. So in theory a 265 would be ideal. But for street use I think I want a little more traction. Hopefully they fit. I will let you know.
