It won't happen because North America can't/won't support it. There isn't the market for a 2.5 litre turbo car. Car companies are generally designing cars for emissions and reliability, not speed and performance.

Well except for the fact that they are bringing the 2.0 litre LanEvo into NA soon.. and the focus rt is also turboed, and the neon is turboed.... in fact now that i think about it.... everyone wants a turbo car.... so maybe he has a point...

Sounds like it would be a pretty fun little rocket if it ever came to be.

The focus and neon RT's are a limited edition model and won't last more than 2 years.

I'd love to see a 250z come into production, but it never will. Nissan won't listen to 1 person and take their idea into consideration.

Your right about the 1 person deal but I think with the success of the latest rebirth of Nissan performance. The Spec V/Altima 3.5/Maxima 3.5/350z and with all the other competition of production turbo cars there might be a chance.Id say that Nissan is looking to either Turbo the Spec V or come out with something else.(or at least I hope so) look at whats comming out...WRX, Neon, Masda's Mp3(or what ever they are calling the turbo model)I think that if I can find the right person to write to and then give all you fine people that persons E-mail then maby just maby...Well think about it - less expensive than the 350z with a little less power and diff styling-It could be BIG!!!:D

I would love to see a rebirth of the 240 in the U.S. Unfortunitly there just isn't enough support for a car like that in its class. Lazy America likes our sport compacts fwd and as easy to drive as possible. Especially in the northern states. All these new turboed cars are appealing to a large range of people. There just isn't a place for a rwd car in compact car market anymore.

*Cough*Sunny*Cough*

I think something turbo AWD (I know the initial post was about RWD, but it won't happen, why do you think they ended production of the Silvia? The new Z thats why) in a SE-R body would do the trick.

Just so you guys know there is a VQ25DET. I saw it in a magazine in a Stagea wagon.

it could be done fairly cheap , qr25de ,transmission from the silvia if its still around in another current vehicle ,use the Z car chassis , eliminate the strut tower braces, go to steel instead of aluminum where possible, and some other things to drive its cost to around 19k , should be easy since a base Z has a msrp of 25k

id rather see a sr20vet powered sentra with AWD in the body of the base sentra so i wouldnt have to look at the boy racer styleing of the ser (sorry cheese it looks cool but its not for me) ...like my cars like my girls ...clean

Hmmm I wonder if the VQ25det is the place to start a budget turbo 350Z? Anybody know if the internals have been modified?

And how is it you plan to mate a Silvia transmission to a QR block? Just curious

Plus you'd simply have an under-powered, overweight, 350z. Unless you meant a qr25det.

It looks to me like they could turbo the Spec V to at least keep up with the other car companies.Id love to see it in AWD also but im thinking thats not going to happen.I agree that a RWD 2.5 turbo is awesome but with todays current market people would rather have a FWD.(not me)The 350z/G35 will have to be the RWD sports cars to get us by.I just hope I can save up the green to get one soooooon!:D

If gas prices skyrocket and stay there for more than 6-12 months I think smaller engines are a big possibility.... but I think the Z would be the last model to change.

lest we forget about the 2.2 chrysler that started out as a front drive engine , just alittle rengineering (in that case a extra hole in the blocks bell houseing) to get her to bolt up to the dakota transmission ,storke it a little to 2.5l and bam there was the base engine for the dakota ,engine mounts might be a issue tho , the new lotus 7 kits run the foucs zetc 4 cyl mounted to a longituidal transmission , really isnt a issue there either

i dunno about power i imagine the qr25 should produce 200 hp no problem , good enouigh to move the z cars chassis without too much problems , would be like the diffrence between a 92 240sx and a 92 300zxtt , qr25det would be good for it tho , nice idea:ylsuper
