I know there are a lot of people on here running 370cc injectors and T3/T04 turbos under 10psi making around 250whp...my question is how is everything holding up? Who has had parts breaking under the pressure? Are the pistons still good? Rings? Head gasket? What about the head? Whats gonna go first?

very good question, i would like to know how long in months and miles people have been KA-T, even if its just a simple 250hp setup. I'l probably end up running a 250hp KA-T for a long long time and i'd like to know what you guys broke and what you havent.

All you need to run reliable 10 psi FOREVER is some ignition retard, like the MSD BTM, and somthing to trim your injectors. Whether it be a hacked MAF or a SAFC. Alot of people get excited and add boost thinking that the larger injectors will more then cover them for safety, this is wrong. You can't run alot of boost with a NA timing map being used. You need somthing to retard timing under boost conditions. This is why alot of people go with JWT ECU's or install the MSD BTM. Hope that helps...

yep, i agree, you can lose a motor due to advanced timing just as fast as you can running too lean.

detonation kills, no matter what the cause. bad gas, poor fuel management, or stock timing maps, they have all blown their share of engines.

I guess the general consensus is that the pistons/rings are the weak point on the ka; if you've ever had your oil pan off you'll see why the KA looks like it was built for boost---rods are forged and shotpeened from the factory, oil squirters in the piston, and an overall very beefy bottom end.

I'll be running the 10 psi/t3/370cc's/walbro/JWT ECU/94 octane setup; I just got it installed, so I can't comment on the long-term reliability. But there's no reason 10 psi is too much with correct fuel and timing management (which is what the JWT ECU does in an idiot-proof fashion).

However, I have developed a minor oil leak lately; I have no idea where it's coming from, and it doesnt lose much oil, but boy does it make a mess of the undercarriage, alllll the way to the back of the car :(

It actually kinda looks like it's coming from the headgasket (OH NO!).

I had the 370cc program with a straight T3 turbo. I only lasted 8 months before I went for the 50lb/hr program because I got a good deal on some used injectors.I dynoed at 11 psi and here are the results http://www3.telus.net/kreen/im...0.jpgI'll be upgrading the turbo to a T04E 50 trim in the spring and I'll dyno it after I tune it up a bit.

Hey, it's a T3 :-) After I got the 50lb/hr injectors and program I upped the boost to 16 psi and got about 30 more HP. The T3 60 trim just can't flow any more, thus the turbo upgrade this spring to a T04E 50 trim compressor. From other people on various boards at 8 psi you should get 220-230rwhp with a T04E of various trims.

8psi should yeild you ~240rwhp if it's tuned properly...

I made 224rwhp at ~6psi, but it was a ragged-edge setup...tuned it a little safer, and upped the boost - 8psi netted me 248rwhp - Stock ECU, hacked MAF, 370s, timing bumped back a little...

Most guys with a JWT setup will see ~240rwhp from 8psi on a T04E compressor.

That's why i want to upgrade to a T04E compressor ;)

Just wish I could find a place that sells the wheel/housing/backing plate.

Arrr...where'd you get yours from, and why'd you get rid of it? I've only seen one kit on ebay so far, and it's a T4 that's slightly less efficient than the T04E, i may end up getting it anyway. Sorry for the hijacking....

I've had mine on since 133,000 miles. I'm almost at 145,000 now and still running strong.
