Congrats man. I'm at 243k myself on my '98. Still original transmission, motor, water pump, rack&pinion. What were some of your bigger repairs? Only really big ones I had were due to rusted lower radiator support at 200k and crankshaft pulley broke apart while driving at 140k.

I had to work the 95 back from a salvage title since I was sideswiped
The worst part was the rear beam (rear "axle")
I found out it was bent after I took it out on the highway
and it shook the rear strut's oil out of it and ruined it :ohno:
The shop replaced it and the other stuff and it was ok then

The most involved repair has been the CV axles. Once one of them
on the driver's side wouldn't go in and I had it towed to the
dealer and the got if fixed for a very reasonable price :rotflmao

My wife's 98 is a better built car. I worked it from a salvage title
too when I was hit by a guy who ran a red light. I would say the
CV axle is the toughest repair on it so far.

Congrats on a quarter of a million miles!

I had this grand plan to sell my I30 when it reached 200k miles because I imagined it would start falling apart like the old Toyota pickup I had did when it reached that mileage. I think you've talked me out of selling it. Sadly, due to neglect from the previous owner, mine has some need for work, but all in all it's still the most reliable "old" car I've owned.

Just wreaked my 96 with 326,000. Think I'll continue to fix. Not too much damage

Dunno if something was actually wrong for you but when I got new cv axle from auto zone it would not go in all the way..went back and swapped it out and the 2nd one worked fine. Makes for a real difficult time when auto stores sell "new" broken parts.

CV Axle may be rebuilt but error made on cutting machine made it out of spec
Whoever thought of inserting these things into the transmission should be shot
There should be extensions coming out of the transmission to attach to
