I know i saw a good motor mount thread but it cost like 55 bucks to make..this is a little easyer..i cant claim credit for it and i cannot remember where i saw the link for the guy who came up with it...

i have instructional pic's up on myspace kinda ( http://www.myspace.com/liquid_cool_ka24de ) under motor mount project in my Photo folders..

this is all you need for the basic ones...4 hocky pucks...official ones..there super hard rubber..6 large fender style washers...4 lock washers..4 locking nuts....threaded rod..the good stuff..grade 8 if ya can find it...thats all for the basic modle.

you use 2 pucks per mount...ducttape them together for drilling the hole in the center...run your threaded rod throu..4 3/4 inches long of rod..add the washers and spot glue (super glue or silicone) to hold things in place ...install..tighten and whamo..you have sweet hard mounts..and your engine sits lower for that nice topmount turbo..or hood placement..i did modifye and add some aluminum to mine..take a look at my (myspace.com/_liquid_cool_ka24de) to see how they came out.

hope ya like em.

Invalid friend ID, sounds like a nifty idea, I wonder how it would work out long term.

This could be a sticky, but you're going to have to put the pictures on here (People are here to help you host), and write better instructions. You'll also need installed pictures, and a write up on your opinion of the end result.

im looking for the original dudes write up...i can build an engine..but got forbid i try to get a link workin:)...the rubber to me seems great for a motor mount..its a little harder than the stock rubber..but ill let ya decide...even if it only last 2 years..at $25bucks..its worth every penny.

here is the link for the original inventor...

http://www.driftopia.com/2007/...ounts

i have seen a few other people who use em to c*** an engine to oneside to make room for a side mount turbo..hockey pucks are an old trick..mainly from 510 owners.

enjoy!

Agreed, but there's no reason you can't be a guinea pig for the S13 chassis with a KA. The link you posted is a CA, and god knows what those 510 owners are putting under the hood. I need new mounts, so maybe I'll try it.

People have been using hockey pucks as motor mounts for quite a while now, you aren't a guinea pig.

people are afraid of new things..thats why ill be the guennie pig on it so they can see it in action..i know its an old trick..and works well..ive seen it around before...if someone see's a pic of something in action..it tends to help them make a desission..just tryin to be helpfull bro.

lol, I've never heard of it. Anywhere. I know a lot of muscle car guys old and young, even a few rat rod guys. I don't really extend myself too far with my cars, I tend to stick to myself unless I'm here on the boards. Either way, I've never even read of it. If they'll support the V8s, I'm sure the Ka is no problem. I just want to see it in action. I'd much rather use these rather than the Nismo mounts for obvious reasons.

there is no doubt the trick has been around for a while..you will see and understand when ya pick up a puck and feel the rubber..its super hard/solid..i have alot of (vetteran) drag racin buddys..i guess its mostly a NY/Jersey trick it seems..im puttin together my last mount tonight after this post so i can work on droppin my motor back in...i allso have to say man...dont use RAT rodder ...use oldschool or someother form..never RAT rodder thou..its an insult!..those guys are super tuners man..taking spare parts fromk different cars and makin it work..i admire and idolize guys/gals like that..way Cool Kats!

ok...i dropped just my block in using 1 standard vertion of the hockeypuck motor mount and one of mine with the aluminum ring around it...you may notoce the engine (cocks) to the driver side a bit..its supposed to...pics are in my ( http://www.myspace.com/liquid_cool_ka24de ) folder motormount project...they are mounted to a ka24de..into a s13 1990 platform...have fun.

That is a really great idea! And it actually works. I am probably gonna end up doin that with my altima motor mounts, but instead of an aluminum ring im pretty sure i have to use my stock ones. Mine bolt to the crossmembers and the chassis... unfortunatelyBut i burned all of the rubber out of one and it looks like it would work

check your hight..might need to be higher man..i dunno i dont have an altima to check with..the aluminum ring..i use it as a bump stop..it the motor moves to far in one direction..it will use the ring as a stopper...thats all it there for..it looks decent allso..its not refined and is still a work in progress.
