On my 08 G35 sedan can I replace the 225/55/17's with 245/50/17 without any problems?

Those tires have almost identical rolling diameter. So, yes. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

The only thing that you need to worry about is the width of the rim. I believe the 2008 has 17x7.5" rims so it should work. It'd fit better with an 8" or 8.5" rim though.

Or maybe 235/55/17 to keep the ride as good as I can.

I have ran the below sizes on my 2007 G35

On stock rims225/55/17 stock Goodyear RSA sucked

235/45/17 Kumho SPT the best tire in the world but the car bottomed out

235/50/17 Yokohama S Drives lasted over 30k miles but not as agressive traction wise as the Kumho

255/50/17 Primewell Z900's cheap tires from Firestone but they have a 280 AA/A rating and actually are very agressive with dry traction

On 17x9 Mustang Bullett rims275/40/17 Kumho V710 slicks245/30/17 Toyo Proxes ST

You can run either, 245/50 or 235/55. You will have better acceleration with the 245/50 and less diameter difference when comparing the two.

Why better acceleration? Think I'll just go one size bigger at 235/55R17. Overall Diameter is only .33 more and Sidewall Height is .21 more .40 more Width. A bit more tire but not that much and the speed o will be 1 mph slower. Been looking at the ContiExtremeContact DWS or the Pirelli Pzero nero a/s or the Yokohama AVID H4s so far.
