1990 Q45 is the car, just picked it up Wednesday last week. I just got a set of 17x7.5's from a 2000 Q45 via ebay and need tires. I calculated a rolling diameter of 26.64 in for a 245/50/17. Will they rub anywhere?

I got the car on a lift and did some hand feeling around the stock 15 inchers while on the ground and it felt like there was enough room.

I am trying to fill the wheel wells a little better than a 245/45/17 does. I know that I am losing 2% effective gear ratio with the larger diameter tire. I also hope for a little better ride because of the taller sidewall.

Thanks

you should have no problem...

I have my wheels on order from Tirerack with the following sizes

18x8 245/45/18 Load Rating...96....Diameter 26.7"18x9 275/40/18 Load Rating ...99....Diameter 26.7"

I should be receiving my new wheels in the next week or so.

Just be mindful about the load rating as this was something that I was not aware of being such a critical issue until the other NICO members helped me out :D

Also I have the eibach springs which I really like and now after having the springs for the past 2 months I can't even tell that the car has been lowered....it looks very normal and I still have a gap under the fender. For me the ride is fine with the springs and I don't notice any extra bumpiness unless I am going over one of those bridges with all those cement joint bumps every 10 feet

motorhead....what did you decide to do on the engine?? are you swapping it out for a LS1 or are you going to stick with the current engine and do some mods to it? I will have my car all done in 2 weeks or less as the headers are being built right now.

I think there are more "offerings" in 245/45/17, that's what I run.

I will get it done. I will get to my local race builder/restorer/fabricator early next week. I wanted to go last week, but I did not pick up the car until Wed night and could not make it Thurs or Friday. I have a wiring harness manufacturer in town, and the engines are readily available. I am going to really try to stay within a plan and a budget on this. I tend to get carried away after I get started. I can see that 10 is not quite going to be enough, but it still looks close. I will ad posts to my original thread as I find stuff out.

What are you doing to yours? Adding headers to the stock motor are finishing out an LS1?

What is the offset on those? I got wheels in the same exact sizes yesterday with +35 and +45 offsets. I'm planning on 235 and 255 tires.

All four are +30. I put in a post and did lots of searches to make sure they would fit.Why the different sizes front to rear? I like to run the same sizes on all four wheels to allow for rotation. There are not many choices in the size I want:Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Symmetrical (Ultra High Performance All-Season) Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (Ultra High Performance All-Season) I believe the Michelins are OE on Mercedes ML500. Reviews on tirerack.com look great for that tire.

As someone posted above, go 245/45 and you'll have tons of tire choices. I went with the Yoko ES100s for about $110 each in YR rating from tire rack and they are great. Many other choices in that price range and higher too. The Michelin's are nice but lots of $$$ and i've not heard much about the Dunlps, but the Kumho's and Yoko ES100 in the lower price point are good, also the Bridgestone SO3 Pole Positions are about 50 cheaper than the Michelines and are very sticky.

Falk....I have the same offset I think as you do, but it might be a 35mm & 40mm. I don't think that the back were 45mm offset and I remeber the difference being 5mm between front and back.

Yes there are many tire choices for 245/45 series tires.

I know that rotation extends tire life, but I want the staggered look and also the bigger tires in the rear to hookup better from a standing stop.

Just want to post a record of the fit of the 17x7.5 five spoke wheels from the 2000 Q45 that I picked up on Ebay for 195 with shipping. They are 30mm offset. They do fit, no apparent rubbing except at possibly extreme front compression, but.....they do stick out too much in the front for my taste. Not so far that they look silly, but definately farther than I prefer. 15mm further in would have been much better in the front. In the back, they sit a little further in, but could be 5-10mm further in.

I did get the 245/45/17 tires, as the choice was too limited. There was a great tire in a 255/50/17, but it was 200. I got Kumho Ecsta ASX (Ultra High Performance All-Season) and they are great. Very reasonable noise, ride is acceptable, grip is quite good. Nice big rain channels, which are necessary in Florida.
