As with any old Z car, it's going to be difficult to find one in nice condition. If you do find one, it will probably be somebody else's completed project, and probably be expensive. Locally, I see the junker ones go for between $500-2000, and nice ones usually go for $8-10k. Definitely expect to pay decent money for a decent car when you're considering buying something this old - the cheaper you get the more rust, frame damage, more broken everything is going to be. Good luck though! They're definitely nice, light cars.

240Z IS THE LIGHTEST AND FAST MODEL STOCKTHE 260Z IS ALMOST AS LIGHT BUT WITH A WEAKSAUCE ENGINE.THE 280Z IS ALMOST A FULL 500 POUNDS HEAVIER (DEPENDING ON MODEL) AND HAS ELECTRONIC FUEL INFECTION... ERR INJECTION.THE 240Z IS 2325LBSTHE 260Z IS 2450LBSTHE 280Z IS 2800LBS

THE 260 AND 280Z HAD THE 2+2 OPTION.

THE 240Z ARE THE MOST EXPENSIVE AND HARDEST TO FIND IN GOOD CONDITION BECAUSE OF THE AGE.... THE 280Z AND 260Z ARE USUALLY THE CHEAPEST AND EASIER TO FIND BECAUSE OF ABUNDANCE.

i would personally take the 240z. the 260z and 280z got heavier and had less power. good luck in finding one!

ACTUALLY THE 280Z HAS MORE TORQUE THAN THE 240 BUT ITS IS ALOT HEAVIER. THEY BOTH DO THE QUARTER IN SIMILAR TIMES AND BOTH ACCELERATE TO 60 WITH PRETTY SIMILAR TIMES... IF YOU WANT TO BE THE FASTEST GO WITH THE 240 BECAUSE OF ITS UNLIMITED OPTIONS AND LOWEST WEIGHT.

If you going to leave it stock or restore it go fo the 240z. You can make any of them faster with some love and money(as with any car).

if you want a stock show car the 240 will be more collectible and more desirable, if you want to modisy it and race, the 280 while being heavier has a lot of removable weight and offers a much stiffer chassis, also being a bit newer tend to be less rusted, when looking for an early Z car if it's not glass or rubber look for rust, check with your local Z car club to find out whats available in your areazcca.org
