After installing new shifter bushings in my 1973 240Z, I am unable to drive home the shifter pin. I have tried a hammer, pump pliers, C-clamps, but nothing works to drive the pin home so I can install the e-clip on the right side.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

dies the pin slide through wiht the shifter out of the car? you could have distorted the bushings while installing them, or if the pin slides through but not far enough to engage the clim try placing the shifter in a vice to tighten the bushings, you can also use a socket around one side of the pin so you can press it wiht the pin in place.
