This was noticed by an experienced Znatic in the online for sale listing. Shocks are good, not binding and still dampening. Yet the car sit about 1.5" high measured from the center of the front and rear bumpers.

I was thinking, in the early years, Datsun had to raise the 240z chasis to meet federal bumper height standards. Is it possible some later 240z parts (ie struts) got added.

Any suggestions on how to bring the height back to original specs?

Visited an experienced Z restorer and found the front end is just fine but the rear end is sagging 3/4".

Bumpers can get tweaked you're better off measuring to the wheel arches. and yes the 280z struts bolt right in and raise the car. I have also seen people and shops put on aftermarket lowering springs backwards which raises the front.

Just a follow-up. Replaced the rear struts with KYB's and the car now sits properly. It seems the gas monotube shocks do contribute to ride height.

gas charged shocks will cause a car to sit a touch higher, as will torquing lca's without having the weight of the car on the wheels first
