240SX wont start, need help

I just got a new battery in my '90 240SX SE and went to start it, but it wouldn't. It seems that all the electrical systems work but the engine does nothing. The car came with an alarm and it seems like that might be the source of the problem because the lights on the side flash and the alarm light on the dash keeps blinking. If anyone has any ideas as of what I could do that would be great.
