240sx wont reverse...

i cant get my car to go into reverse. i got a 89 240sx coupe 5 speed and last night when i was leaving a parking lot it wouldnt go into gear. i sat there for like 5 minutes straight trying to mess with the gears but still wont go reverse. i can drive fine threw all 5 gears but still cant go reverse today. i dont think its my transmission, it still feels strong... could it be my clutch? or maybe something to do with the shifter or bushing? any help is appreciated thanks.

no, its the transmission.

on one of my dsm's, i lost reverse first. then the next week, it wouldnt go into 1st, and the next day, it woudnt grab any gear and the front trans seal leaked synthetic oil all over my act xtreme clutch, and it was done.

if it was the clutch, it wouldnt want to go into any gear.

how much play is there in the shifter?

wat do u mean play? it shifts fine 1-5th gear and it runs fine. the gears seem pretty smooth... dam i hope its not the transmission

play = slop in the shifter while its in gear.

Try slowly letting the clutch up while pulling back on the stick and see if it will drop into reverse.
