So a buddy of mine just picked up a KA motor that has all the internals and block modified to run a Turbo. It has a compression ratio of 8:1. My friend wants to run it as a NA stock motor though. He's installing the stock ECU and everything, but leaving the internals how they are. Wont the car run bad because the car is suppose to run at about 9.5:1. He claims the car will make 200whp? Wondering what you guy think?

I got a answer off 240sx forums:

the HP will be lower than stock... Less compression...

It may be a bit of a dog too...

Guessing HP numbers is worthless... it is like dyno numbers.. it is just a number...

Bottom line, the engine will not have the same output as a stock, 9.5:1 engine

lower compression = lower hp

what do you think turboing a motor does?

Get a new friend that understands engine dynamics first, then you have to realize that it costs a lot of money to make a 200whp na ka or about $1500 to make a reliable 300 whp ka-t. Remember that that high compression and high displacement are the only ways to make NA power. That is all.

Hey atleast with those 8:1 compression the ka24de will drive great on 87OCTANE. No need for supreme.

Thats the only advantage I see from that compression.
