Ive been wanting to get a 240 for a while and finaly scrounged up enough money to buy a doner chassis for my project. I just have a question before I buy (searched but couldnt find anything)

Whats the best (lightest) year and model to go with. Would it matter if its a stick or auto if I get the s14 sr20det with the transmission and full electronics.

Any help and opinions will be greatly appreciated,Thanks, Asgar

Forgot to mention that the car will be used as an autoX and road race vehicle (daily driver too)

The lightest is the 1989-1993 coupe but lighter by less than roughly 100 lbs than the FB. Id get a manual 1991-93 coupe and get an S13 blacktop rather than an S14 but thats just a preferance. If you get an auto you just have to do a little more work of putting in the pedal and stuff.

Thanks a lot speedracer1, may I ask why you prefer the 91-93 over the 89 and 90. Also, why do you prefer the s13 black top over the s14 engine?

91-93 have are dohc. 89 -90 are sohc. That also means the swap is going to be easier with a 91-93 s13, as you wont hafve to swap tachs power steering lines, or ac lines. you would have to do all that (if you wanted power steering and ac) conversion for a pre 91.

I just like to keep it simple, the S13 blacktop will go into the S13 with a less major wiring headache. I wouldnt wanna take the time to cross chassis codes by going from S14 heart to S13 donor. As for the 91+ The answer is right up there ^^. That and it may be a bit better condition.
