Hey everyone I need some help with my diff. I put in a VLSD rear end today and went to go test it out and it is binding rreally bad in turns. It is perfect in a straight line and powering through turns but when I take turns slow it binds. I had it sitting nose down for about 2 months. My only thought is the clutch packs are stuck since they have been dry. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Damn I was told wrong then. The internals are completely inclosed an look almost identical to the one on this link. http://www.quaifeamerica.com/d...f.gif Have you heard of anything like this happening before?

what do you mean its binding? you mean your car is jerking a little and scrubbing the tires at low speeds? thats clutch/welded charisticts. vlsd wouldnt do that. maybe you got lucky and picked up a vlsd pumpkin with aftermarket clutch pack lsd in it?

That is very possible. It makes a loud clunking noise and my wheels shutter in every direction. I do know it is not welded. Do you think the fluid could have anything to do with it? It also only does it when I am slowly accelerating through turns but if I'm in neutral or accelerating hard it is fine.

So I changed the fluid and the guy before me didn't put LSD fluid or additive. I put synthetic fluid and LSD additive and it is spinning perfect now. Thanks for all the help!

I can't remember the exact name but it is just LSD additive. You have pick it up at any auto parts store in the gear oil section. When the fluid is cold it still clunks a little put is smooth after a mile or so. Hope that helps. Good Luck!

Seeing that we are on the subject. My vlsd jerks very hard after i let off of the gas. not all of the time. only if its under stress and i let off quickly. does this mean i need more fluid or might it be something worse?

You put in the lsd without changing the oil? That's a problem right there. Use Royal purple 75/140, good stuff.

LSD additive is useless in a VLSD.

Always change fluids when installing used parts. Redline is fine, RP is just my preference. It's a tall skinny purple bottle and lsd uses about 1.5 bottles I believe.

LSD additive doesnt go where it needs to go when you put it in a VLSD. Ifs its a VLSD , then it isnt welded , because you cant weld a VLSD. So , your problem might be you bought a worn out diff with some other problems. Drain it and take the diff cover off and have someone that knows look at it , although you wont be able to see much because its mainly enclosed.
