How hard would it be to do a truck conversion on the back half? I have two 240sx, one has kinda a crappy body anyway so im contemplating a truck style conversion. for utility purposes, i mow lawns as my second job and if i could fit a mower in a truck 240 that'd be badarse for me. It might as well be full roofless cause i wouldnt even use it in the rain.

Anyone stateside done this to a 240sx?

I don't know of anyone in the states that's done this, but I imagine it would require a LOT of custom fabricated metal. Unless you're willing to shell out a lot of dough, or you've got the "junkyard wars" mentality of doing it yourself, I'd think about getting yourself an actual pickup truck instead. It's not that difficult to find an older toyota or nissan pickup for $1000.

I have a 240SX hatch that I removed the hatch from (I rolled it over first) and that already created a sort of bed. If you have a hatch, you should be able to just place a dividing wall with a window right behind the front seats. The rear side windows would still be there, but that would still create a pretty big cargo area. If you're talking about doing this to a coupe, too bad.

i think it would be hideous. it'd prolly look like the late '80's Nissan NX's. they have an easily removable hatch and look just as stupid as a 240 would.

Not to mention the fact that the structural integrity would suffer. I imagine without a roll cage or extensive bracing it would be loosy goosy. If you look at team orange's conversion they have a pretty mean looking roll cage but on the other hand it is a D1 car so I don't know.

Isn't the front half already mostly "truck"?

(come on you know someone had to say it)

it would probably be much easier to start out with the truck and put the 240 front on it.

I agree with the idea of just getting a Nissan or Datsun pickup and hauling with that instead. Even though your 240 may be badly damaged, it just wouldn't be right to do something like that.

[quote=" f s t caz [Bi'm still trying to figure out if its made from a hatch or a coupe. [/quote]COME ON, look at the clues man. coupes dont have the full lights like that in the back...so its obviously a fastback! right? if im wrong someone tell me!

AND- unless you intend to make it look hot like that drifter pic, DONT DO IT...its 240's like that that make them almost have a redneck-camaro apeal to them

A friends gonna buy my extra 240 i think, but it would be very nice to have light duty hauling abilities and superior handling. truck handling sucks.

If i did do it, it would be Junkyard Wars style and probably pretty ghetto. I better not do it then :)

As to the structural integrity, it would be strenghtened. I'd make a custom rear strut bar that would double as the driver/passenger seperator. Cut the rear middle section, mold it a bit into one of those air gates you see on a lot of trucks. i'd have several tie down spots to hold my lawnmower in place during hard cornering.

I'd wire in a 2nd fuel pump with a switch, so when my mower needs gas i'l pump it right outta my tank...
