I like the 240sx's. I like the trunk backs the most. beleive it or not, the reason I bought a 240sx was for the truck motor! My mom has a 90 nissan pickup with the KA24E in it, needed a valve job at 275,000, and thats it. I deliver pizzas and I needed something reliable with good mileage, so the KA24E it was. good mileage, nice looks. plus I only paid $500 for it. it rewarded me by punching a hole in the block 3 weeks later because of a bad timing chain guide/plugged oil pick up, YAY! then I was looking for swaps. SR20 is o.k. but I had my heart set on a FJ20ET (old skool baby!!!). that was a joke, try finding one, let alone parts. so, CA18DET it is!

when I get it built, I think I am going to sell it and perform a littel "restification" on my other 240, Z that is. MMmmmm, turbo 280zx motor + 2300lbs 240z = 13 sec 1/4's on stock boost. tociko 5 ways and a nice eibach set up. and some 15in turbo wheels. should be good to go after that.

If you think about it, the 240sx was the "spiritual" successor to the original 240z concept. small, light weight, affordable, relatively quick. Granted the 300zx was the end all be all sports car, but that strayed further and further from teh original 240Z. no THAT is a drivers car!@!

oh yeah, here are a few pics of the ORIGINAL silvia, truely a beautiful car! Silvia Pics sorry for the length!

Actually the Skyline was/is the end-all be-all in Nissan's lineup, if you want to get technical. :)

Hey everybody, this is my first time posting here. Don't mine my dumb screen-name, I've been using it for almost 4 years. Most of the people I know in person know me from that handle, so thats why I stuck with it. Anyway, I would like to add to this topic.

I've been into drifting since '96 (not meaning that I actually practiced, just was INTO it). My brother somehow got me into it, probably showed me a really old option video. Also, I think 1996 was the year when Ridge Racer first came out. That was the first game I played that drifting was a main technique you had to use to win a race. Tokyo Highway Battle, the one with Keiichi Tsuchiya in it also came out, it had the drifting intro movie that had his Kei's Office S14.

So how did I get into the 240sx? Actually I wanted to get a S12 200sx Turbo because my father had an s12 back in '86. I loved that car because it used to talk (when the door is open it would tell you "door ajar") My father and all his friends are Nissan/Datsun freaks, they tuned 240z's, 280z, NAPS-Z trucks, etc since the early '80s. So you kinda see how I got into Nissans in general. Anyway, when I got my first job I needed a car to drive to work. There was a car in the paper, an S12 200sx V6 for 2500, But the car sold quickly. So I went to car dealer and asked them if they had a 200sx, they said no but had a 240sx for sale. They said it was the predecessor(sp?) to the 200sx so I was like okay, I'll take a test drive. I liked the feel of the car so I bought it. So till this day I have that same 240sx, been with me through high school and college. And I kind of found out later it was a popular "drift" car from Option videos.

I get comments like that too from high school kids. "Do you drift?" "Do you have an SR20DET?" and a really annoying question that I got, "you have a sileighty, huh?" And friends that I used to go to high school with are like, "so you just got that 240sx?" And I'm like, "Remember, this is the car I've been driving ever since I was a Junior in High School, you rode in it!" Then they're like, "yea right, You just got it, cuz it just got mine too."

Sorry for the long post, and grammer errors. I'm kinda bad in English, ever since I moved to Hawaii pigeon english really screwed me up.

Here's a picture of me drifting at the Signal Auto Drift Challenge Test and Tune day, and yes I'm moving:

What exactly is an ITR swap, an itchy testicular rash? You swapped an entire it-r into a civic?

An itchy testicular rash? That's a funny one. I think you know what an ITR is, and how the word "swap" is usually associated on AUTOMOTIVE forums. If you're going to act stupid, maybe you shouldn't be into modifying cars at all. There's no need to be ignorant.

I'm sorry that making the transition into a 240SX from a civic probably pisses you off (and a few others)... but what can I do? I've made my decision and I have very good reasoning. I've been into honda for years and it's time to move onto bigger and better things.

But one thing I can say, is that I guarantee you my 240 will not be a disgrace to any other 240 owners. Another thing, it isn't staying 4 cylinder... so you don't have to worry about the SR20 thing. Ok?
Eklectrick wrote:That is a stupid thing to say. why would he cry for wanting the 240 after a civic. you guys should be proud that he's "making a step up". If you are that scared why not make up a list of criteria that must be met before you are approved to buy the great and magnificent 240sx. Because god forbid it fall into the hands of the enemy. it is just as stupid to criticise someone for wanting a 240 just to put a sr20 into it as it is to brag about how long you have known about it's existence, or claiming how cool you are because you are NOT into drifting.

Thank you.. I't's good to know that not every 240 owner is selfish and stubborn. :)

Watch out now  ;)

Hope youre serious about following through. I hate it when newbies grab "SR" and "RB" out of the sky and use em to talk big. Good luck, EJ6!

EJ6: no prob.and incase you haven't noticed there is a lot of honda bashing on these boards. some of it is justified, but not always. just don't let it get you too hot. I myself used to drive a gen2 integra with a b16a.

This guy at work has a Z31 and everytime he takes a turn and the tires give even the tiniest bit he regales me with stories of how he drifted on his way to work :D

I'm very serious about it. Just like I was with my Honda. I bought the engine before I even bought the car. I'll be doing the same thing again basically. Plus, I've got the experience, tools, space, and funds to do it... so there really isn't a problem. I've got a few loops to go through before I start though.. but the clip I will have in a month or two. Once I have that there's no turning back. :)

Heh, anyways, I'm new to you guys and I understand that. I'll be hanging around the boards more and more as my project progresses.

If you wanna see my civic for sale right now and maybe get a glimpse of the type of enthusiast/owner I am.. you can see it here:
