My stepdad blew out the trans in his 1997 nissan hardbody truck (5 speed, 2wd, Single Slammer KA) and was wondering if an s13 trans would work? I assume it will physically "work" IE: it will bolt up to the motor and the mounts will be the same, but are any sensors different? How about the drive shaft? Is the gear ratio any different, or is it just the rear end?

Im only asking because im having a hard time finding any of these trucks at the junk yards, or on craigslist. But 240 trannys are much easier to get.

Here is what I know about the ratios; the first gear on 4x4 truck models is low at 3.92:1 as opposed to 3.2:1 on 2wd models. Gears 2-5 are also different for the 2wd/4wd models, but 4th gear is always direct drive @ a 1:1 ratio. IDK about the 240sx versions of the fs5w71c trannys, ratio or shifter location wise, other than they are all classified as fs5w71c's.

You would need to cut up the floorboard. You would also need the 240sx starter because mounting between the 2 are different. Search and you will find this question has been asked and answered lots and lots of times.

from what i remember the 240 transmission is longer too so you would need a shorter driveshaft... i could be thinking about the the transmission out of an old z car tho so i'm not 100% sure
