240sx tachometer problems

i gotta 90' nissan 240sx with the ka24de engine.. i bought the car the way it is and the stock tach has never worked.. every thing else on the insturment cluster works except the tach.. what could be the problem??

Not sure, but I would just put in a whole new gauge cluster in......U can find one at a local junkyard, I did, or ebay.

1989,90 came with the SOHC engine. The 89/90 tach runs off a different signal than the DOHC KA24DE. You have to modify the tach to recieve a DOHC signal.

I have no idea how to do that but that's your problem.
