I put a straight pip to my exhost now is that a bad idea and do i need back presure on my 2.4L. Now it is loud as hell.

Its a good idea to free up stock exhaust some.

Its a bad idea to straight pipe it. You probably lost top end, and it sounds like s***.

um yeah...you DONT lose top end with straight exhaust, you gain top end, you theoretically lose bottom end and a slight bit of midrange torque, but he didnt say what diameter the pipe was though, but people have proven, yes on dynos, that straight pipe and 3inch pipe gain a little on the top end and lose almost nothing, maybe 1-2 low end hp

iirc stock 240 exhaust is 2.25 i can see the advantages of upgrading to a 2.5 to free it up some.

my car has a straight pipe 2.5 and its slow as piss. but i also have 3 or 4 vacuum leaks so that doesnt help much either.
