I've tried searching on this, but nobody seems to be able to say anything clearly in this section of the board, so I figured that maybe I could clear things up and get some FAQ's answered. We all know that Whiteline and Suspension Techniques sell sway bars for our beloved S13's, but what is the deal with the other factory swap options.

1) Are Factory S13 Convertible Sway Bars thicker than stock Hatch/Coupe Sway Bars (Particularly the Rear Bar)

2) How Thick are the HICAS Sway bars for the S13, and how are they in comparison to their S/T or Whiteline counterparts.

3) For anyone that has any of these pieces equipped, let us know how the car is now compared to its stock form.

Maybe we can sticky this and stop getting repetitive threads on the same subjects.

The Stock SE rear sway bar is 15mm, the HICAS is 21mm. I love my HICAS bar. Much snappier turn in and more neutral. Coupled with polyurathane bushings front and rear (endlink and D) the car is much flatter through the turns. The front SE sway bar is 24mm, and IIRC the HICAS bar is something like 21 or less...

My 89 240 coupe had a 24mm front and a 14mm rear. I put the 21mm K's (same as HICAS) bar on the rear w/ ES enlinks and took the front bar from my 92 convertible which is 25mm. I belive the rear bar of the convertible is the 14mm also. I know it's small!

By installing a larger front bar when you upgrade [increase the size of] the rear bar you are FIGHTING the gains made by the lerger rear bar.

The whole purpose is to increase the rear roll stiffness..........as the front is already too stiff!

Many times decreasing the front bar by a mm or 2 will be the correct direction.

I put in the Sway Bar today, OMFG, talk about response. Even with stock springs and shocks w/ 181k on them, holy mother, this car freaking turns!!!! Easy swap, took me an hour, best mod for the money that I have done so far.
