Haha, I knew this would come up one day.
My alt. was shot when I got my clip so some rigging had to prevail to keep from buying a new alternator. Here are the steps I followed. Please ask if you have any questions.
1. You have to use the SR pulley on the KA(de) alternator. The KA pulley is 4 rib and my redtop pulley was 5.
2. I had to use the KA(again DE) alternator tensioner, but not the bracket. Can't remember now, but it seemed like the KA and SR were oposite on the way it tightened.
3. I had to grind off a lip that was build into the alternator housing that was behind the pulley. It was like a raised lip around the bearing. If you do not do this the new 5 rib/SR pulley will bind on it and the alternator will not turn once the pulley is torqued.
That's really it from what I can remember. It sound's like a lot, but if you have a spare KA alternator laying around it really can be done fairly quickly seeing as you have to take the alternator off and put it back on anyway.
One more good piece of info is that you can have your SR alternator tested at the local auto parts place (I used AutoZone), since all the plugs are the same.
I have been using my KA alternator since October when I did my swap. Never had any problems.
Hope all this helps.
