Hello everyone. i have been registered with the forums for about a year or so, but i didn't have a 240, and never asked any questions, just read through the forums and whatnot.

But today, i paid a whole 1000$ and got a 1990 240sx coupe. I have a few things to do to it before its great, but it has new brakes, a sohc, with a new timing chain. ( helped the guy put everything in)

I haven't picked out what i waned to do to it, i know i don't want to touch the engine yet, and i have done all the little stuff to make sure the car is in perfect working order.

So, basically i have 4 things i think should be done before i try to make it faster..

1. Bushing kit. No squeaks but it is a 17 year old car.2. Maybe coil-overs, or maybe just springs, i don't plane to do any track racing, so maybe coil-overs are a bit much, springs might be a better daily driving upgrade.3. 5 lug conversion. great for buying new rims.4. Jdm conversion, yes strictly cosmetic, but it looks o so sexy...

i want to know what you guys think is the best starting set of mods?i make like 1000 every two weeks, and i don't pay rent so it can almost all go to my car. but i don't want to do anything to the engine yet.

good choices with the bushings, and on a daily driver go with strut/springs unless you want the better height adjustment to make the look with the newer wheels a little better.

You may want to keep the 4 lug, I did and although I paid quite a bit and waited 6+ months, you can still get good wheels in decent offsets. I'm using Volk GT-C's in a 4 lug at 17x9 +21 offset at all 4 corners.

4. before you go into body conversions, might want to do a tune up. gas prices in the bay area aren't exactly cheap.

hey i read the faq, i did a search on the forums and that came up. i did a tune up, ie- timing chain, oil, fuel, and air. also did a leak down test, and the guy who did it, said all things are good, he recommended milling the head, and surfacing it within the next 10,000 miles.. not sure why he said that, but he is trustworthy so far. Also, i have a bud that works at a Machine shop, he said that price he said, he would drop in new valves, and make sure everything is all set, mill the head, all for 200 bucks (i would have to pay for valves).

other then that, i need new struts, shocks, and springs.. so i think that and the head will be my new mod, if i decide to stick with the Ka, and i don't want to because its sohc.. long day.. i know. i might pickup a dohc in the bay area, (450$) and do the head work on it.
