Decided against the Tanabe springs .. hell all springs. The Tanabes are too soft.
Decided to bite the bullet and get coils. Now I just can't figure out which. Mostly looking for long-term durability and good customer service.
Narrowed it down to Tein Flex, Greddy and HKS Hipermax III ("baller" coils but I know nothing about their service)
I'd say all of those are a big waste of cash. Koni Yellow with a Ground Control Coilover sleeve would be your best bet. Both have great customer service (with Ground Control they'll work with you to find a spring rate for your application instead of the 8/6 combo everyone uses by default) and just about everyone knows where you can get Koni's rebuilt/revalved/etc. You ask around in an autocross paddock about who has what suspension, most of the class leaders will have Koni/GC/Eibach combos (assuming they're not National Champs with Penske's).
Those popular Japanese brands are capable of creating garbage, much like we do here in the states. They're rarely valved properly for your vehicle or application, they're prone to fade/blow, the tophats they use are rarely level and do not allow a proper mount on your strut tower, etc. Cusco is about the only company I semi trust from the popular coilover makers on that side of the ocean, but even then they're still drastically overpriced.
I use revalved Koni's with a GC sleeve in the front and QA1 coils in the back (mainly because rear shock/spring applications are a pain in Corolla's). After the Pro Solo Tour (as I dont want to disrupt the work I've put into the car so far and figure out what dampening works for certain surfaces) this year, I'll be riding on Koni Yellow's/GC/Eibach on all four corners.
