My 91 240SX with five speed shows about 76 mph when actually running 70. The car is (as yet) unmodified. It is totally stock. The speedo also seems to suffer random, small fluctuations in speed readout.

Any ideas

Thanks, Alphaspeed

How do you know you are going 70 when your speedo says 76?

Assuming that you're not just pickin on me, I have trailed other autos and I am consistently at 76 when they all have been at 70. I have also found a police remote radar cart, one of the ones that shows you your speed, and it also indicates lower than my speedo shows.

Any suggestions?

Do you have new rims on your car??? or low profile tires?

I was just trying to see how you were finding out your speed, nothing against you. Just trying to help w/ the situation. Since you said your car is stock, do you mean stock rims? Like implict said, we need to know your wheel/tire combo to figure out the problem.

The car is totally stock. Stock rims, stock size tires.

Sending unit error by chance.

Are you using the digital gauges or mechanical... 5-speed or auto?

Post your tire size.
