Alright well I'll try to describe in detail on what's going on with my S14. Today I started my car just fine, drove it to around twon just fine. Drove it to my friends house on the other side of town just fine. But when I left his house I noticed it took longer to crank over than usual :gotme Kind of shrugged it off, so while on my way home I decided to get some gas. Pull into the station, I went in to pay, filled up with 91 like always. Got back into my car, turned the key with no result. "Mmm" I thought to myself, "Lets try again" I said this time lets pay attention to putting in the clutch  Still no cranking! :gotme Oh CRAP! I thought, dead battery but the battery is only 4 moths old. Maybe the alternator is bad but I'll prove that wrong later. Anywho I called my brother to give me a jump, that didn't work :ohno: So we towed the 240 home. I pop the hood checked all the wiring, nothing is loose. I even tried two different batteries that didn't do anything. So we decided to push start the car, and BAM like that it starts just fine. Pulled it into the drive way popped the hood and again checked around. After letting it run for about 10 minutes I went to go turn it off. This is were it gets weird lol :ohno: The car still ran even with the key out of the ignition :gotme :wtf2: WTF?! I had to pull the fuel pump fuse to kill the motor :rotflmao But before that we disconnected the battery and the car still ran meaning the alternator is still good right?? :gotme I seriously have no idea whats going on and I need this car to run, it's my man means of transportation. Any help would be great :frown:

Ign switch?

Check the plug for it and also take it out from the steering column. I haven't done one on an S14, but on my S13 it was fairly straight forward. Tilted the wheel up, remove the steering wheel covers and there was one screw holding it in. Take it out and turn it, make sure the back of it does not touch anything or you might short it.

New ignition switch solved nothing. I'll be replacing the starter solenoid or starter, most likely the solenoid since it's cheaper. Or it could be the clutch switch, tell you the truth I don't even know. Guess I'll hook up a jumper cable to the battery and jump the starter. This kind of stuff frustrates the hell out of me

if you think its the clutch switch, you can just jump that wire first.. I would just change the starter though. Sounds like its shorting out or something. I've seen them do weird things like leave the car on and stuff... thats why when you changed the ignition switch nothing happened. It always is, the easier thing in the end sometimes lol.. :naughty:

I plan on jumping the clutch switch to see if that's the problem, now that you stated the a bad starter can cause these sort of issues I feel a little more at ease on what it can be.

Turn the headlamps on while starting the car.

If they don't dim, it's probably on the control side, and if they don't it's usually the starter.

Uh if they "don't" dim it's a control problem but if they "do" than it's most likely the starter? You put "don't" twice so I'm just trying to clear things up

Well I can take out the starter and starter solenoid from the equation. I had them tested along with the battery and they are all good. The only thing left I can see it being is that the clutch switch. Rather then replacing it, I'm just going to attach a wire from the switch directly to the stater and bypass the whole clutch switch relay. They really don't make cars like they used to :tisk:

Alright well it seems my car is haunted :wtf2: :frown: Now that I have been able to remote start the car but like before it just wont shut off when you remove the keys!!! I have looked over everything and just can't find the source of the problem, even my local car club mechanic was stumped  So for the mean time, my brother and I wired in a kill switch for the fuel pump since that's the only way to kill the motor :frown: :tisk: and we are in the process of relocating the remote starter and adding a battery kill switch. As another side affect of all this is that my idiot lights stay on after the keys have been removed :wtf2: Anybody looking to buy a 1995 240sx??? :frown: :chuckle:
