So the problem is that the frame started rusting (rotting) and it got to the shock towers... so I am going to apply some rust encapsulation and undercoating... and bondo where necessary... anything else I should do to fix that??

It's going to be a lot of work man. I had similar amounts of rust on my S13, I paid a thousand or so to get the shock tower rust fixed, and tried my best to get the frame welded back together.

It actually caused me to sell my car :S - Best of luck to you - but it looks quite bad from that tiny pic.

Actually it doesn't look so bad. I had similar rust issues in my s13 and some cutting and welding took care of it. Don't use bondo down there!!!

the good news is that I have a shop where i can work on my car (if I get it) and get discounts on parts and supplies, cuz my friend works there... I figured the work would be somewhat extensive... but I hope for the best...

That's not a car to 'tinker' on. There is A LOT of work needed on it. The way your making it sound is you don't have much experience with cars. This is not a good one to start out with.

Anyway who thinks they can 'bondo' up some frame rails needs something in better condition.

its being sold as a project car... which is how i will end up buying it... I have experience with cars, but i do not know everything, hence why I asked on the forum in the first place... so i learned that bondo + frame = FAIL... now i know to seek someone in that shop with welding experience....

Are you just applying things to it or are you planning on fixing it?

I hope you are replacing that rusted out metal with some new.

easiet and cheapest way would be to get the frames from the a car that isnt rusted out and re weld it back to its oem place. Note the way the rails are welded. You wanna weld it like that.

1st. Just pry them out with a flathead screwdriver, OR you can go under the tower and push them up so they will pop out.

2nd. I don't see how you would have to remove the engine to be able to weld there, so YES you can. Just remove the power steering reservoir and all the cables so you won't burn stuff. Also watch out for the relay box
