I don't know. The Q45 input pinon is beefier I think. I would say you might have to open them up to find out.

it can be done. i did it on mine. do it ONLY if you can get the q45's cheap. requires you to swap the diff, some machining. probably cheaper for you to get other vlsd/lsd unless your going to produce massive power that requires the big 6 spaced out axles

half less than what i bought it. got it for $200 sold the rear 5 lug and brake setup for the q45 for the same price so i got it for free.

now you have to source driver side 300zx TT axle and swap out the diff. put the q45 diff in your 240 casing along with the r&p gear. you also have to swap the shims left to right right to left cause it will push the q45 diff more to the driver side. now you have to take measurements and figure out how much to be machined off. measure and quadruple check it to make sure its right. then you have to find a place to machine it for you. i was lucky enough that this machining place only charged me $20 to do it while others charge $100 or dont even wanna touch it. good luck

can't i just put the 240sx ring and pinion in the q45 casing and that would be easier right?

it'll be easier to put it on the 240 casing so you dont have to remove the input shaft and pinion gear

this may be true but it'll save me the money of having to machine it down too

you have to machine it regardless. the q45 r&p gear put the diff in the middle when you install the 240 r&g on the q45 diff it will be more on the driver side so it'll be your output shaft that would need machining. you'll see what im talking about when you do this

the q45 rear end is basically r230 internals in a r200 case. so its the same casing as the 240. it looks like the side bearing spacer and washer would switch to the other side of the bearing. the one that needs to be machined is the q45 i believe the driver side output shaft, the 6 bolt that attaches to the axles which is not on the pic. ill see if i have time this holiday and remove the rear end and maybe do a tutoral for someone who wants to try it. its hard to explain, i have to take pics of it. but once you have it out and swap to the other side you will know what im talking about
